Moonraker Adventure Lodge is situated between Windhoek International Airport and the city of Windhoek. The Lodge which hosts an idyllic farm with domestic animals is based on Farm Finkenstein, where 2000 ha at the foot of the spectacular Auas Mountain Range have been set aside as a private nature reserve. Here the Goldbeck and Finke families have made their dream a reality and created a place where humans and animals can bond with and in nature. If you wonder about the lodge’s name, well it has nothing to do with James Bond, but is named after Moonraker a horse living on the farm.
The lodge concept is founded on strong principles of environmental consciousness including water recycling, alternative energy and permaculture. Moonraker promotes the idea that humans can live in harmony with nature. The restaurant provides three meals per day and all dishes are MSG free and sourced as much as possible from Moonraker’s organic garden. Fresh milk and butter are produced from their own dairy.
A highlight is the ‘special’ farmstead where a variety of animals, each with its own name and story, live and contribute to the farm experience. Go and find Moonraker!
The lodge has a seminar room for leadership workshops, team meetings and personal development seminars.
Hiking & Mountain Biking
Moonraker is a retreat from everyday busy life. Arrive, breath, relax and then explore the beautiful surroundings on foot or on a mountain bike.
You want to get much closer to nature? No problem, take part in a mule trek into the Auas Mountains. The mules carry the equipment and walk with you to your overnight camp. You will sleep in tents and enjoy a good meal under the stars, cooked by your guide on an open fire. You will hike back to the lodge the following day.
There is a waterhole 500m from the rooms, which is frequently visited by eland, wildebeest, kudus and water bucks. Game viewing on your doorstep!
